Keene State wins big at AIA-NH

Interim President Jay Kahn was named an Honorary Member of the New Hampshire Chapter of the American Institute of Architects at their annual Design Awards Gala January 13. This recognition is given for “distinguished service to the profession of architecture or to the arts and sciences related to architecture within the State of New Hampshire.” Jay was recognized for his “outstanding work and dedication in transforming the campus of Keene State College to include some of the State’s most architecturally significant academic buildings of the past 25 years. The quality of design these buildings embody illustrate [Jay’s] unwavering commitment to, appreciation for, and support of excellence in architecture.” He was also recognized for contributions to other academic, civic, and charitable organizations, many with connections to or implications for the design and construction industry.

Additionally, the TDS Center was recognized with a Merit Award for its design.

Bart Sapeta, Architecture, was also recognized with a commendation in the unbuilt category for his study for an island shack.
