Seasonal Flu Update

From the Center for Health and Wellness:

The seasonal flu is present in New Hampshire in higher numbers than usual. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that some Keene State College students set to return to campus on Sunday may be ill with the flu. In an effort to prepare, the following information is of high importance for students, parents, faculty and staff.

  • It is still recommended by the Center for Disease Control that all individuals age 6 months and older be vaccinated with the seasonal flu vaccine.
  • If a student is sick with flulike symptoms on January 20, 2013, they should not return to campus.
  • Flu like symptoms include sudden onset of fever, headache, body aches and cough.
  • The student should return to campus when they have been fever free without fever reducing medication for 24 hours.
  • The student should notify all of their faculty via email to inform them of their illness and thus subsequent absence from class.
  • Faculty will hold unoccupied seats for 24 hours after the initial class meeting in anticipation of notification from the student.
  • In the event that the faculty member receives no notification from the student within 24 hours of the initial class meeting time, the faculty member may assign the seat to a student on their wait list.
