Who Are You and What Do You Do?

Who are you? Ellen Ellsberg Edge

What do you do? Director, Child Development Center

What do you really do? I oversee operations at the Child Development Center and make sure things are running smoothly. It is a wonderfully varied job, and sometimes I feel like I’m in a popcorn popper! I also participate in activities supporting high-quality early care and education at the local and state level, with a focus on public policy.

What else do you do? I’m a part-time doctoral student, so that’s been filling up my spare time! As the wonderful folks at the Rec Center know, I’m a compulsive Spin Class attendee, and really like to road-bike. I also like to cook, garden, and cross-country ski. I’ve got two grown daughters, one of whom is here at KSC this year!

How long have you been here? This will be my seventh year.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why? I would help to shift the national debate towards a focus on the well-being of young children, which has been almost completely absent from the debate during this election year, sadly.

What song or movie title do you feel sums up your life or personality? Well, for some reason I really liked Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I thought it was a wonderful way of celebrating love and memory. Sometimes we only value those things we hope will happen in the future, and we don’t appreciate the beauty of past experiences and those seemingly small fleeting moments…

  • What else do you want other faculty and staff to know about you? I’m so glad to be here at Keene State. This is an incredible community, and I’m so glad to be a part of it.
