Professional Activities

Guitarist and composer Jose Lezcano’s (Professor of Music) summer tours in 2012 have included:

• Quito, Ecuador, where he offered the world premier of his double concerto for guitar, bassoon, and strings, “Jornadas (Journeys)” with the Carrera Festival Orchestra, bassoon soloist Matthew Shubin, and conductor Luciano Carrera, and performed concerts with his trio, Latin Landscapes;
• Barcelona, where he performed a solo recital at the Biblioteca Nacional de Catalunya, accompanied singers at the Barcelona Festival of Song, and was composer in residence premiering his new song cycle, “Canciones Nostalgicas,” with festival founder and director soprano Patricia Caicedo;
• a solo recital for the Fundacion Comillas in Cantabria, northern Spain;
• a collaborative concert (Spirit of Liberty) at the Venetian Fortress in Heraklion, Crete featuring Latin American Nueva Cancion, Greek protest songs, and Beethoven, with singer/pianist Elina Skarpathioti;
• and a return appearance with Music in Miami (www.musicinmiami.net), presenting a program of his original chamber works and songs with South Florida musicians.
