Who Are You, and What Do You Do?
Who are you? Sylvie Rice
What do you do? Manager, Environmental Health and Safety, Physical Plant
What do you really do? Ha! I try to do everything but my job — just kidding. Here is my bioblurb:
Before joining KSC I worked for over twenty years as an environmental consultant, serving as project manager and administrator in environmental compliance and hazardous waste site clean-up.
My role here is to support the College’s mission by providing leadership, resources, and services to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all members of the College community and to manage the impact of College operations on the surrounding community. I am responsible for hazardous materials and environmental management; occupational health; general safety; illness and injury prevention; industrial hygiene; and emergency preparedness.
What else do you do? I have a great husband and two daughters (20 and 18). One is a junior at UNH, and the other is going to be a freshman at PSU. My hobbies are gardening, walking and sewing. I am also a volunteer with the Greater Monadnock Medical Reserve Corps.
How long have you been here? Six and a half years
What’s your favorite Keene State memory? Hydrorobics class with Jeanne Hearn (I have been going for a year)! She is a great instructor, we have lots of fun, and get good exercise!
If you could trade places with anyone on campus, who would it be and why? I can think of lots of offices that I would like to work in, but I think it would be great to work in the Art Gallery, Redfern, Cohen Center, Institutional Research, or in academic advising.
Who will be our next WAYAWDYDs? Is it you? E-mail campusnews@keene.edu for more encouragement or the interview questions.
