Causes: HIV/AIDS Research

Some of you may recall that way back in May 2010, we instituted a new column in Campus News, dedicated especially to enabling folks in our community support each other’s worthy causes. Well, countless hours of solicitation have finally paid off, in the form of a second post in this ongoing series.

Michelle Wood, IT Group Enterprise Info Sys Director, and her partner are participating in a five-day bike ride from Vermont to Maine to raise funds for AIDS/HIV research. The bike ride is August 13-17, and Michelle is asking for your support to reach a fundraising goal of $1,500. Donations can be made through Sept. 1.

In Michelle’s words: “We have not done as much training this summer as we would like — but this ride is not about training. It’s about the beauty of the human spirit and showing up to make a difference. Your donation will make a huge difference in funding AIDS/HIV research to find a vaccine, and your support will motivate us up those crazy hills in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.” 100% of your donation goes to UCLA AIDS Institute and Emory Vaccine Center to enable cutting-edge research for finding a vaccine to put an end to HIV/AIDs.

If you are interested in making a donation, please visit www.active.com/donate/cthavbt2012/MWood270.

And remember, we’re still looking for your worthy cause! Send submissions for this column (and for all of Campus News) to campusnews@keene.edu.
