Tech Tip of the Week: Changes to MyKSC for Students — What Do They Mean to You?

From the IT Group:

The IT Group is excited to announce some wonderful changes to MyKSC for students. While these changes are exciting for students, they will also help you communicate with them more effectively and consistently.

Some of these new changes include:

  • A new MyKSC e-mail address – NetID@ksc.keene.edu! This new e-mail address will replace the current NetID@ksc.mailcruiser.com address.
  • Effective immediately, this new NetID@ksc.keene.edu address will make it possible for students to take advantage of discounts for things like ski tickets, travel, computer software, etc. from companies that have always required a .edu address.
  • Students will continue to access their e-mail through MyKSC just like before. This new address will be updated in the KSC web directory and Colleague. Any information pulled from Colleague (i.e. WebAdvisor rosters) will reflect the new NetID@ksc.keene.edu address. For the duration of the fall semester, all e-mail sent to NetID@ksc.mailcruiser.com will be delivered to their new NetID@ksc.keene.edu address.
  • After January 31, 2013, e-mail sent to NetID@ksc.mailcruiser.com will no longer be delivered. What does this mean to you? You will want to begin using their NetID@ksc.keene.edu e-mail address immediately and begin updating student distribution lists to reflect this new address.
  • Student e-mail quota has been increased to 1GB, and they have the option to forward their MyKSC e-mail to a personal e-mail account, such as Gmail, Hotmail, etc. To protect identity and confidentiality, students have been instructed to use their official MyKSC e-mail (NetID@ksc.keene.edu) when contacting faculty or KSC offices regarding official college business. Students who decide to implement this optional feature will see this expectation in the e-mail forwarding tab of MyKSC.

The HelpDesk is available to answer any questions you have regarding these changes or to help you make the changes you need to update your address book. Feel free to give us a call at 358-2532, e-mail helpdesk@keene.edu or stop by our office on the 2nd floor of Elliot Hall.
