Professional Activities

Stephen Bismarck, Mathematics, made two presentations at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics national conference in Philadelphia this April. The first, titled, Identifying Appropriate Use of Technology in an Algebra Classroom was well received with more than 120 participants. The second, Making Sense and Modeling Mathematics: Common Core State Standards (CCSS) with TI-Nspire Technology was also well received with an editor of a mathematics education journal requesting a manuscript detailing the presentation so that it can be considered for publication.

Mona Anderson, Assistant Director of the Counseling Center, presented at the Association for the Coordination of Counseling Center Clinical Services (ACCCCS) Conference, May 15-18 in Chapel Hill, NC. Her presentation titled Creating a Vibrant Group Therapy Program included several co-presenters from Baylor University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and focused on the success our Center has had in developing an effective group counseling program at KSC.

Irene Herold, Dean of the Library, graduated with a Doctorate in Philosophy from Simmons College’s Graduate School of Library and Information Science’s Managerial Leadership in the Information Professions program on May 18, 2012 in Boston. Her dissertation is titled, An Examination of the Leadership Program for College Library Directors Associated with ACRL’s College Libraries Section.
