Works on Paper at Carroll House

From Rosemarie Bernardi, Art:

The KSC community and general public are invited to share in an artists’ reception on Thursday, November 10, from 4-6 p.m. at the Carroll House Art Gallery at KSC.

The gallery presents “Works on Paper- Mark, Process, Image,” an exhibit of mixed media work. Swedish artist John Rasimus, Delaware artist Robert Straight, and Chicago artist Ashley Towne exhibit their drawings, prints, and paintings on paper from November 3- December 10. All three create mixed media work that investigate color, mark making, layering of process, or animated imagery. The invited artists exemplify just a few of the ways paper is used by today’s artists.

In addition, paper collages by Art students Skyler Hunter, Emma Fairweather, Renee Fredette, Andrea Macri, Lauren Perlstein, Kelly Ross, and Rosemary Urato will be exhibited. The artworks were completed for ART 225 Drawing II in the spring of 2011 at Keene State College. Students made use of found papers, torn remnants of notes, overlaid with drawings in pastel, charcoal, and ink. The model is lit with exuberant color, and invented space. Although working from the same pose, each student’s approach varies in their chosen balance of representation and abstraction.
