From Amanda Warman, Campus Safety:

On October 23rd, Campus Safety Parking Operations Coordinator Samantha (Sam) Massahos was named Miss Capital Area, one of the Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program pageants.

Massahos, whose platform for the program is “Empower Yourself: The Positive Impacts of Counseling,” received a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in music as a 2010 graduate of Keene State College. She is currently a graduate student in the Masters in Education in School Counseling program here. In addition to her current title, Massahos was selected as Miss Kearsarge Valley (2010-2011), Miss Monadnock Region (2008-2009) and has won several awards for talent (singing) and congeniality.

Contestants are scored on talent, response to interview questions, evening wear, lifestyle and fitness, and response to an on-stage question. The Miss New Hampshire Scholarship organization has awarded over $128,000 in scholarships for women and girls in New Hampshire since the beginning of the year and is New Hampshire’s number one source of scholarships for women.
