Updates from OSPR: Deadlines Monday

From the Office of Sponsored Projects and Research:

On the heels of another successful Academic Excellence Conference, the Office of Sponsored Projects and Research wanted to share the following updates, including outstanding student and faculty research activities which are highlighted on the News section of the OSPR website.

  • Jim Kraly’s CHEM 251 students are “Learning Science by Doing Science.” Read more about how undergraduate research is being integrated into coursework with this student research project on energy drinks like Four Loko, and find the answer to the question “So how much caffeine really IS in that energy drink?”
  • KSC Biology Major Deena Snoke receives a prestigious summer fellowship at Dartmouth College.
  • Check out information regarding KSC’s participation in the federally funded NH Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (NH-INBRE). Read about the two pilot research projects funded through NH-INBRE and headed by Loren Launen and Susan Whittemore, as well as the broader impacts that this grant program has had for undergraduate research at KSC by providing funding for students to become engaged in ongoing faculty research.
  • Upcoming Internal Grant Deadlines: The last round for proposal submission to the Undergraduate Research & Creative Projects Grant program is Monday, April 11. New this year, KSC is offering a limited number of Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) for Summer 2011. The deadline for this program is also Monday, April 11. Information, guidelines, and application materials for each program can be found on the OSPR website. Please encourage your students to apply.
  • NH EPSCoR’s annual conference will be held June 10, 2011 at UNH/Manchester. The topic of the conference is Fostering Inclusive Interdisciplinary Research Across New Hampshire. There is no fee to attend, but registration is required. For more information, visit the OSPR website.
