Financial Aid on a Mission!

From Amanda Foskett, Office of Financial Aid:

While many of the students from the KSC community were home for their winter break either relaxing or maybe working like maniacs to try and replenish those bank accounts that were drained during the fall, there were many administrative staff members working back on campus in preparation for…wait for it…next fall! One such office is the Office of Financial Aid (OFA) located in the Elliot Center. The groundwork is being laid, and processing will shortly begin for all of the prospective Class of 2015 students.

In addition to the work involved with planning for the 2011-2012 academic year, the OFA has been busy preparing for a series of very special nights right here on campus starting next week.

In support of the College’s recognition of value in providing financial access and support to its students, and in light of the current economic climate and the growing concerns about the affordability of higher education, the Office of Financial Aid has proudly announced the scheduling of its first ever FAFSA Nights event!

FAFSA Nights is a volunteer-driven effort to provide FREE assistance to college-bound students and their families seeking help to complete the FAFSA. It will be staffed by professional financial aid representatives from KSC’s Office of Financial Aid.

As we hope you are already aware, January 1 has brought with it not only a new year but also a new Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) that students must complete if they intend to use any source of financial aid (including all federal loans!) during the 2011-2012 academic year to pay for college.

If you know of any high school seniors and/or their families who may need help filling out a FAFSA for the first time, please encourage them to attend one of the FAFSA Nights. They will be held January 25 and February 3, 10, and 15 from 4 to 7 p.m., in Rhodes Hall. And if you know of a returning student (or are a returning student) who needs help with a new year FAFSA, please contact the Office of Financial Aid directly at financialaid@keene.edu.
