From Scot Ward, Physical Education: For 12 years, Scot Ward, an athletic trainer and coordinator of Clinical Education for the Athletic Training Education Program, has volunteered at the Boston Marathon - and he has been bringing KSC student volunteers for the last 10 years.

Certified athletic trainers in the finish-line medical tent work with a variety of other allied health professionals, including physicians, nurses, physical therapists, massage therapists, and City of Boston emergency medical personnel, to care for the runners. Certified athletic trainers stationed at the finish line, where Scot has been for the last three marathons, are responsible for immediate medical triage and care for marathon participants. This year, Dr. Wanda Swiger accompanied Scot and contributed to the medical-tent coverage. Additionally, each of our graduating seniors volunteered their time to the event. In the past, Keene State athletic training students have worked together in the medical tent, and they have also been assigned to the finish line as part of the wheel-chair team.
