Al Rydant (Geography) presented “Comparison of Staff and Student Expectations of Fieldwork: A Case Study of a Bi-national Fieldtrip to the Four Corners, USA,” at the Association of American Geographers Annual Meeting, Las Vegas, NV, in March, with B. Shiplee (University of Wolverhampton), J. Smith (University of Wolverhampton), and B. Middlekauff (Plymouth State University).

Colin Abernethy (Chemistry) attended the American Chemical Society’s National Meeting, in Salt Lake City, Utah, in March. He gave an invited lecture at the Inorganic Chemistry Symposium, “N-heterocyclic carbenes as coligands in the synthesis of early transition-metal nitride complexes.” The coauthors of his talk were KSC students Katherine M. Edes and Elizabeth A. Neuhardt. While at the conference, he had the opportunity to meet Kelly Elkins ’97, a KSC alum who is now a professor at Metro State College of Denver. Kelly gave a talk, “Project SEED: Strategies and success” describing her experiences co-supervising SEED students with Abernethy at Keene State last summer.
