Professional Activities

On February 27, Irene Herold (Mason Library) gave a two-hour workshop at New England College (NEC) on “How to Decrease Plagiarism in the Classroom: Techniques and Procedures.” She was invited by the chair of NEC’s Academic Standard Committee to present. Her presentation focused on three areas: what is protected, setting up expectations early in the course, and assignment construction.

Beverly J. Ferrucci (Mathematics) recently presented “Incorporating Technology into Singapore’s Mathematics Curriculum: Prospective and Practicing Teachers’ Beliefs about Their Role” at the Asian International Technology Conference in Bangkok, Thailand. The presentation is part of her long-term cross-cultural research that examines the cultural impact of Asian countries’ curriculum on the mathematics achievement of elementary and secondary students.
