From Wanda Swiger, Physical Education: Two Keene State College students were given an opportunity to increase their leadership skills and to get involved in the legislative process at the National Athletic Trainers’ Association iLead conference in Washington, D.C., in February. Session topics included leadership style, communication, tips for getting hired, and social media.

The event concluded with a visit to the Capital for “Hit the Hill Day,” which allowed certified athletic trainers and students majoring in athletic training to meet with legislators to better promote the athletic-training profession. The New Hampshire Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Rhode Island Athletic Trainers’ Association support these efforts, and awarded free registration and travel (based on a combination of academic achievement, character, and athletic training abilities and activities) to Matt Roberts ’10 and Mollie Jean Burgess ’11, both currently majoring in the Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training. Mr. Roberts is also the N.H. student representative to the Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association.
