Shirley Wade McLoughlin’s (Education) book, A Pedagogy of the Blues, was recently published by Sense Publishers in their series Transgressions: Cultural Studies and Education. The book presents her conceptualization of a pedagogical approach to education based upon the blues metaphor.

Irene Herold (Mason Library) attended the American Library Association Midwinter meeting in Denver, January 22–25, where she chaired the Association of College and Research Libraries’ College Libraries Section meeting.

José Manuel Lezcano (Music) received two Grammy nominations for his work on the CD, Remembrances/Recuerdos, which was released recently by North-South Consonance. He received nominations and was semi-finalist for “Best Contemporary Composition” (for his Guitar Concerto) and “Best Performance, Soloist with Orchestra” (for his solo performance in the Concerto). José was also recently interviewed on Classical Guitar Alive, a radio program broadcast on 200 stations nationwide; selections from two of his CDs (Remembrances and Latin Landscapes) were played. He recently played solo guitar recitals on the Boston Guitar Society “Sunday Sounds Series” at Hingam Library (1/25), and on Dartmouth College’s Vaughan Recital Series (2/4).
