KSC Community Donates 158 Thanksgiving Baskets, Toys, and Food

From the KSC Thanksgiving Basket Committee: Once again, Keene State has made a difference in our community. This year’s Thanksgiving Basket Drive was a great success and touched the hearts of many families. Baskets were prepared with personal touches by students, student organizations, departments, faculty, staff, and even a local bank. Not only were 128 Thanksgiving baskets contributed but also three large boxes of unwrapped toys from a KSC family, eight massive boxes of miscellaneous food items, and a hefty 50-pound bag of potatoes. With a generous amount of cash donations, we were able to provide for an additional 30 WIC families for a record total of 158 baskets!

This year’s event was a success due to the extraordinary generosity, hard work, and efforts by many. Volunteers included 45 students from a variety of Greek and student organizations along with more than 20 faculty and staff from all corners of our campus community. We are grateful to the local vendors who added an assortment of coupons and items for distribution to the Community Kitchen. Be sure to say thank you to these participating vendors: Met life, Delta Dental, Dr. Peter Welnaks’ Office, Inspired Creation, Wal-Mart, Yankee Lanes, Shaw’s, Toadstool Bookstore, Children’s Dental Care, Borders, Price Chopper, First Book, Target, Bagel Works, and Sylvania/Osram.

We would like to extend our most sincere thanks to the Equinox for their support of our ads, to Sodexho for supplying refreshments (as well as baskets and a diaper bag complete with all the necessities!), to Physical Plant for their pick-up and delivery services (and 10 baskets contributed from their department), and to those individuals who initiated the collection for their departments. It is truly a reflection of our campus community to be able to come together for 23 years and make a difference to so many people during the Thanksgiving holiday.
