Rain in Summer, a new composition by William D. Pardus (professor emeritus of Music) that was commissioned by the New Hampshire Music Teachers’ Association, premiered on Saturday, October 4, in Manchester at the Association’s yearly convention.

The work for soprano, flute, oboe, bassoon, and piano uses the text of the poem of the same name by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Performers included KSC faculty members George Loring, Sussan Henkel, and Joy Flemming, and local freelance musicians JoAnne Mead and David Flemming.

The work will have its public premiere on February 20 as part of a KSC Faculty Artist’s Recital in the Redfern Arts Center.
