How it Happened

The Owls claimed the first two sets, going to extra points in the second set. The Panthers took a win in the second set, but the Owls finished off the match with a win in the fourth set. It was the second win for Keene State over the Panthers this year, having also defeated PSU 3-0 as part of the Granite State Challenge on September 9 in Keene.

Rachel Lamicaled the way with 18 kills and five service aces as well as seven digs, while Olivia Mathieu posted a career high 14 kills while hitting .423 with seven digs and a block assist.

Service Aces

As mentioned, the Owls will be the No. 2 seed and have a bye into the conference semifinals. That game will take place against the winner of the No. 3/No. 6 matchup. Final seedings will be determined after this weekend’s last round of contests. Thanks to Southern Maine’s 3-2 win over UMass Boston, the Owls also clinched a share of the regular season title. Keene State last clinched a share of the regular season title in 2015 and also won regular season titles in 2007 and 2008. Record Watch: Lamica went over 400 kills, becoming the fifth player in school history to have 400+ kills in a single season. She joins record holder Brittany O’Bryant, who occupies three of the top four spots, with 519 in 2006, 477 in 2007, and 416 in 2008. Kristen Girard had 447 in 2010. On the career records side, Riley Bunker passed Jamie Levine for third place on the all-time digs list.
