Dr. Waller Interviewed in National Geographic Article
Keene State’s Cohen Professor of Holocaust and Genocide Studies Dr. Jim Waller was interviewed for a National Geographic article, "What Science Tells Us About Good and Evil." In the aftermath of the recent violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, the author turns to science to understand why humans are capable of unspeakable acts of violence and cruelty – and why we also commit surprising acts of selfless kindness. In the article’s section on genocide and mass atrocity, Dr. Waller shares his insights into the “incredible capacity of the human mind to make sense of and to justify the worst of actions.”
National Geographic decided to publish the article online to shed some insight into current violent events, but will also include it in a printed version in a later issue of the magazine.
