The Keene State College community is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Bruce LeVine Mellion ’69, one of the College’s most active supporters.

“Bruce was one of the College’s most loyal and significant donors, contributing to more than two dozen different programs across campus,” said Keene State’s Vice President for Advancement Maryann LaCroix Lindberg. “From sculpture to scholarships to challenging our young alumni to give, his impact on KSC and his friendship to many of us will not be soon forgotten.”

Among the many and varied programs LeVine Mellion supported are

  • the Bruce LeVine Mellion ‘69 Summer Student Research Fellowship
  • the Student Conference Fund
  • the Charles Hildebrandt Holocaust and Genocide Studies Award
  • the annual student trip to the National Holocaust Museum
  • the Fred Fosher Writing Award
  • the LeVine Mellion Parent of the Year Award
  • the Bruce LeVine Mellion ‘69 TDS Experience Award for Excellence in Architecture, Safety Studies, and SPDI
  • the Bruce LeVine Mellion ‘69 Nurse of the Future Scholarship
  • the Bruce LeVine Mellion ‘69 Scholarship for Excellence in Dance

“I’m very big about giving back,” LeVine Mellion explained. “You ‘enter to learn, go forth to serve,’ and return. If you are so fortunate to get so much, then you should always give back. Because my brother Paul and my sister Joan also went to Keene, we started the LeVine Mellion Parent of the Year Award 30 years ago. I went on to establish the Fred Fosher Excellence in Writing Award, because Fosher taught a fabulous course in technical writing, which served me so well. I support many programs at Keene State, from chemistry to music to nursing to technology to dance to Holocaust Studies. We’re working on a new award in fine arts—putting little things in a lot of places gets a lot of good things to grow. I just find it to be a lot of fun to give back and to provide opportunities.”

His funeral will be held Sunday, September 13, at 11 a.m. at the Abraham L. Green Funeral Home, 88 Beach Rd., Fairfield, CT. Keene State friends are welcome and invited.
