KEENE, N.H., 1/25/10 - Keene State College students from the Theatre and Dance Department will present Sam Shepard’s A Lie of the Mind, an emotional, thought-provoking play about the destructive power of love and the delusions people spend entire lifetimes creating or trying to shed. Directed by Vaughn West, the play will be staged Wednesday through Saturday, March 3-6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Main Theatre of the Redfern Arts Center on Brickyard Pond.

Admission is $10 for the general public, $8 for seniors and youth ages 17 and younger, and $6 for KSC students. Tickets are available through the box office at 603-358-2168 or online at www.keene.edu/racbp.

Shepard’s works often puncture the facade of the American dream, exposing the raw and brutal truths of what drives people and breaks them down. A Lie of the Mind profiles the story of two families united by marriage wrestling with substance abuse, domestic violence, codependency, desertion, guilt, hate, and desire. Shepard invites the audience into these devolving lives to witness how far people will go to achieve their goals, to realize their shortcomings, or to free themselves from the life sentence they create with their delusions.
