KEENE, N.H., 2/6/08 - The forecast for Saturday, February 9, might call for the possibility of a light snow accumulation, but inside Spaulding Gym there’s going to be a complete “white out.”

Keene State men’s and women’s basketball teams will welcome the visiting Corsairs from UMass Dartmouth with a blanket of white. The Owls are encouraging all fans to wear white to the games as they attempt to sweep the Little East twinbill against UMass Dartmouth, including a Corsair men’s team that comes into the game ranked second in the nation in Division III with a perfect 19-0 record prior to tonight’s game at Tufts.

“It’s going to be a great feeling when we come out on the court,” said senior captain Kevin Ritter. “I’m sure it’s going to provide an adrenaline rush for the whole team that’ll give us the energy to beat such a quality opponent.”

Keene State has purchased 1,000 T-shirts to hand out to students who attend the games, which begin at 1 p.m. (women) and 3 p.m. (men).

Each student who brings a canned good to the game will receive a free T-shirt. If students don’t have a canned good, they can purchase a T-shirt for $1. All of the canned food and proceeds will go to benefit the Keene Community Kitchen.

Keene State and UMass Dartmouth have hooked up in several memorable men’s LEC clashes over the years. The two teams have faced each other twice in the tournament finals (1998 and 2001) with the Corsairs winning both times. Earlier this season, the Owls had their upset bid come up short with a 100-97 loss at the Tripp Athletic Center on January 12.
