Proulx, Miller Add National Titles

Keene State runners Mary Proulx and Mark Miller each picked up another national title Saturday, winning their races at the NCAA Division III Championships at St. Paul, Minn.The NCAA title is the fourth for Proulx, the third for Miller.Proulx, a junior from Ashland, captured the 5,000 with a time of 16:50.52, edging Grinnell (Iowa) College’s Nicole Cueno, who finished in 16:54.42. Proulx also beat Cueno to win Thursday’s 10,000. (see related article) Proulx trailed most of the race before pulling away with two laps left.In the men’s 1,500, Miller also trailed until the last lap before racing ahead of Brian Kleinenhagen of Wis.-Platteville. Miller finished in 3:50.42, Kleininhagen in 3:50.92.
