Keene State Dedicates Soccer Stadium Welcome Center

KEENE, N.H. 10/27/03 - Keene State College completed the last component of its soccer stadium project with the dedication of the Savings Bank of Walpole Welcome Center last Tuesday.

In February, the Savings Bank of Walpole donated $10,000 to fund the new soccer stadium Welcome Center. The Welcome Center houses three rooms, one for tickets and information, one to sell merchandise, and an area for officials.

“Keene State College is an important community partner,” said Don Tisdale, president and CEO of Savings Bank of Walpole. “Helping our partners grow is a critical part of our mission. We were particularly pleased to contribute to the soccer stadium because it is not only an exciting project for the College, but it will also contribute to the vitality of the entire community by attracting players and fans from all over the Northeast.”

A project that began four years ago and was dedicated during Homecoming ceremonies in September, the Owl soccer stadium provides KSC and the Monadnock region with one of the finest sports facilities in New England.

“The Savings Bank of Walpole has supported KSC athletics throughout the years,” said John Ratliff, KSC athletic director. “This gift to the soccer stadium is just one more indicator of their support not only of KSC intercollegiate athletics, but of the Keene community as a whole. We are very grateful for their continued involvement in our program.”
