OSHA Region I Center Offers Courses in August

KEENE, N.H. 7/18/02 The Region I (New England) OSHA Training Institute Education Center, in Manchester, N.H., has scheduled four safety courses in August. The Institute is authorized by the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Keene State Colleges Office of Continuing Education.

The following courses are offered at the Education Center, located at the Manchester Airport.

Machinery and Machine Guarding Standards is an introduction to various types of common machinery and related safety standards. The course provides guidance in recognizing hazards such as those created by points of operation, ongoing nip points, rotating parts, and flying chips or sparks, as well as some options for achieving abatement. The OSHA 204A course is scheduled Aug. 12-16. Classes meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday. Tuition is $640.

Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry, intended for private-sector personnel from all types of industries, presents detailed information on how the provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act may be implemented in the workplace. This OSHA 501 course is scheduled Aug. 12-16. Classes meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday. Tuition is $640.

OSHAs Revised Recordkeeping Rule is designed to assist private-sector personnel who have responsibilities under OSHAs revised recordkeeping Rule 29 CFR 1904. Students who successfully complete this course will be able to identify the OSHA requirements for recordkeeping, posting, and reporting as well as complete the new OSHA forms 300, 300A, and 301. The OSHA 845 course is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 9. The four-hour class will be offered twice during the day, from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuition is $75.

Accident Investigation explains various techniques and procedures used in investigating accidents, with special emphasis on those procedures implemented in the industrial environment. Case studies and actual accident scenarios are part of the course. The NCSH 407 course is held Monday to Wednesday, Aug. 19-21, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuition is $500.
