KSC Graphic Design Seniors Show Portfolios

KEENE, N.H. 3/25/02 - Keene State College graphic design seniors will open their portfolios for public review on Friday, May 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. The Graphic Design Senior Portfolio Review will take place in the Thorne- Sagendorph Art Gallery, located on Wyman Way on the Keene State campus.

Local businesspeople are encouraged to review the portfolios of graphic design seniors, most of whom are seeking employment upon graduation. The portfolio showcase is free and open to the public. For further information, call the KSC Art Department at 603-358-2040.

The portfolio review showcases each senior’s best design work produced while pursuing a bachelor of arts or a bachelor of fine arts at Keene State. Each art student specializing in graphic design is required to take a portfolio seminar to plan and prepare a professional presentation of his or her work. During this class, seniors may develop new pieces and refine work completed in other art and graphic design classes.

The portfolio review coincides with “Emerging Art,” the annual Keene State art students’ exhibition at the Thorne Gallery, which continues through Sunday, May 12. For the first time, gallery visitors will be invited to vote for their favorite works in both graphic design and studio art. The artist of each winning selection will be presented with People’s Choice Commendations, which each carries a $100 cash prize sponsored by the Friends of the Thorne. The People’s Choice Commendations will be announced on Monday, April 29.

The portfolio review and exhibit are free and open to the public. For exhibit information, call the Thorne Gallery at 603-358-2720.
