Keene State Graphic Design Seniors Show Portfolios April 15

KEENE, N.H., 3/21/11 - More than 35 Keene State College seniors majoring in graphic design will open their portfolios and showcase their best design work on Friday, April 15, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Media Arts Center on the KSC campus.

Graphic design students are required to take a portfolio seminar in which they prepare a professional presentation of their work. During this class, taught by graphic design faculty members Rebecca Davis-Kelly and Melissa DiPalma, students complete a wide variety of design-related projects including print, web, and multimedia, featuring identity design, poster design, websites, animation projects, and editorial design.

The 36 students who will display their graphic design work at the portfolio review include:

New Hampshire residents Alaina M. Bergeron from Marlborough, Geoffrey Brailsford from Sunapee, Erica Benson from Milford, Tyler Donnelly from Barnstead, Janel Flanagan of Laconia, Kyle Houston from Litchfield, Whitney Ilg from Gilford, Brian Jensen from Bow, Meghan Koda from Brookfield, Kate Lindsay from Spofford, Nichole Marsh from Salem, Brian Menard from Nashua, Gregory Moore from Keene, Mary Piontowski of Laconia, Tim Pipp of Keene, Michelle O’Hurley from Brentwood, Carey Mercier from Pelham, Jake Shanahan from Holderness, and Jenna Welty from Stratham;

Massachusetts residents: Shauna J. Barron from Pembroke, Emily Carlson from Holden, Allison Crane from Millbury, Ian LaBelle from Dartmouth, Kimberly Perry from Fitchburg, and Samantha Strong from Monson;

Connecticut residents: Hilary Graham from Scotland, Steve Lauder from Southington, Kristen Muller from New Fairfield, Julie Quast from Granby, Robin Szypulski from Barkhamsted, and Erica Tremblay from Norwich;

New York residents: Kelly Humes from East Rockaway, and Susan Moshier from Onieda;

Other graphic design students are Dylan Cahill from Red Bank, N.J., Lauren Fagundes from Cumberland, R.I., Sarah Smallwood of Essex Junction; Vt.

Members of the local business community are encouraged to attend the event and review the portfolios of these graduating seniors. Students’ friends and family and other community members are also invited. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. For further information, call the Media Arts Center at 603-358-2770.

In conjunction with the portfolio review, the Art Department will sponsor an opening reception for “Emerging Art,” the Annual KSC Art Students Exhibition, on the same day, Friday, April 15, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Thorne- Sagendorph Art Gallery. This reception will be hosted by Friends of the Thorne and is free and open to the public.
