Continuing Education Spring Registration Opened

KEENE, NH, 12/10/10 - Registration for spring term classes through Continuing Education and Extended Studies at Keene State College is now open. Classes begin January 18, 2011.

To meet your needs, Continuing Education offers classes in different formats. Some classes run on campus at night, on weekends, or during the day. Others combine classroom and online learning in a blended format. Classes range in length from a single evening to a semester. New noncredit classes begin throughout the spring. Three types of certificate programs are also offered: online, noncredit, and on-campus credit. Another program combining CD- and Internet-based learning is specifically for teachers.

Managing Work Expectations and Personal Money Management, for example, are two noncredit classes held on a single evening. Introduction to Microsoft Office 2007 and Wood Turning are weekend courses. Six sections of the four-credit Public Speaking are offered with classes running during the day and at night.

Continuing Education also offers many courses where learning has an online component. For example, Introduction to Women’s Studies is a blended course. The 200-hour Hospitality and Casino Management is all online. Advanced Classroom Management is a distance-learning education course combining CD- and Internet-based learning.

People become Keene State Continuing Education students for many reasons: personal enrichment, job enhancement, to prepare for a career change, or to begin taking courses toward a degree program. Many who begin taking courses through Continuing Education later apply to the college for admission, ultimately earning a college degree.

In addition to coordinating educational opportunities on campus, the Continuing Education Office works with regional businesses and industries, private and public agencies, and school districts to provide learning opportunities specific to the needs of their workforces.
