Jay Kahn Elected SCUP Director

KEENE, N.H., 3/15/2010 - Jay Kahn, vice president for Finance and Planning at Keene State College, has been elected at-large director for the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), an international society of higher education planning professionals. Joining a 15-member board representing 4,500 members, he will begin his three-year term of service on July 14, 2010.

SCUP, founded in 1965, sponsors workshops, professional training webinars, and publications to help its members establish and achieve institutional planning goals within the context of best practices and emerging trends.

SCUP attracts members from colleges and universities who provide academic, financial, student assessment, and facilities leadership. Members also include academic and facilities planning professionals. “As a chief financial officer and co-chair of our campus Planning Council and Facilities Planning Committee, I value the expertise different disciplines offer,” said Kahn. “SCUP’s members provide a terrific international network of colleagues with which to share experience. I look forward to keeping the organization at the forefront of emerging educational trends. This includes partnerships with business and communities that sustain campuses as vital components in their regions.”

Kahn’s professional volunteer activities include: New Hampshire Workforce Opportunity Council, Concord, New Hampshire, Governor’s appointee, 1999-2009 (Executive Committee, 1999-2009); Cheshire Health Foundation and Cheshire Medical Center Board of Directors, Keene, New Hampshire, 2005-2010, (Executive Committee, 2008-2010); Monadnock Economic Development Corporation (Board of Directors and Finance Committee, 1995-present, Chairperson 2000 and 2001); Greater Keene Chamber of Commerce, Keene, New Hampshire (Board of Directors, 1993-2000, Chairperson-elect, 1998, Chairperson, 1999-2000); CASA-NH (Court Appointed Special Advocates), Manchester, NH (statewide Board of Directors, 2001-2008); Leadership New Hampshire (2008).
