'Universal Access and Human Rights' Theme of World AIDS Day

11/30/2009 - Started on December 1, 1988, World AIDS Day is about raising money, increasing awareness, fighting prejudice and improving education.

The World AIDS Day theme for 2009 is ‘Universal Access and Human Rights’. World AIDS Day is important in reminding people that HIV has not gone away, and that there are many things still to be done.

Events at KSC:

Monday, November 30

  • Educational Workshops in the Student Center (11 a.m. - 6 p.m.)
  • Gloria Reuben (from the TV show series E.R.) will be speaking in the Mabel Brown Room of the Student Center (8 p.m.)

Tuesday, December 1

  • HIV Rapid Testing (11 a.m. - 6 p.m.) in Student Center rooms 307 & 308
  • Main Exhibition (11 a.m. - 2 p.m.) in the Student Center (music, food, beverages, T-shirts, educational activities, and more)

Ten pieces of the AIDS Quilt will be on display both days in the Student Center.
