Keene State Offering Certified Building Analyst Training

KEENE, N.H., 09/09/09 - Keene State is working with Building Performance Institute to offer Certified Building Analyst training.

Professionals who conduct residential and multifamily building performance audits or are involved with specification or installation of certain building performance enhancements know the key to energy-efficient building performance is in viewing the “house as a system” - understanding interaction of the HVAC system, building envelope, and the home itself.

Students learn fundamentals of building science, identifying and understanding building performance problems - including ice dams, mold and mildew, and indoor air quality issues - analyzing buildings using “blower door” technology and other diagnostic equipment, and assessing building tightness, mechanical, and distribution systems and combustion safety for a “whole house” performance-based approach while gaining practical application of blower door, combustion safety, and other diagnostics for assessing air leakage and efficiency in buildings.

Two fall sessions are planned: September 15 through October 15 and October 20 through November 17, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6 to10 p.m. The $1,200 session fee includes cost of written and field certification examinations.
