Keene State College Honors Outstanding Women

Keene, 1/20/2009 - Each March, as part of the campus celebration of Women’s History Month, Keene State College recognizes women who have made outstanding contributions to the campus, the community, and the State of New Hampshire. This year’s Outstanding Women of New Hampshire Awards will be presented at an event on Monday, March 30, 2009.

The national theme for the 2009 National Women’s History Month is Women Taking the Lead to Save our Planet. We are looking to honor women who contribute to the support and advancement of women, including women who have made significant contributions to the Keene State College community during its first 100 years in this, our Centennial year. Their contributions might include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Volunteer/community work
  • Leadership positions
  • Support for the goals and interests of women in the community
  • Role model/mentor for others
  • Organizer of campus or community events
  • Voicing women’s concerns on campus or in the community
  • Working to expand the vision of equality for women

Awards are given to women in four categories: an outstanding KSC student, a member of the KSC faculty or staff (excluding current commission members), a woman from the Monadnock region, and an individual whose contributions have made a difference at the state level.

Nominations of individuals for any or all of the four categories listed above may be submitted. Nomination(s) will be accepted in letter format of no more than two pages, addressing the criteria listed above and providing the following information:

  1. Please tell us how you know the individual.

  2. Please describe why you feel this individual is deserving of this recognition.

  3. In what ways has this person contributed to the support and advancement of women?

  4. Contact information for both the nominator and the nominee.

Once complete, nominations may be sent by e-mail to jhearn@keene.edu or through US or campus mail to Jeanne Hearn, President’s Office, Keene State College, 229 Main Street, Keene, NH 03431-1504.

All nominations must be received by 4:30 pm, February 6, 2009.
