Calling All Sports for KSC Homecoming

KEENE, N.H., 10/22/08 - Homecoming weekend will serve up a hearty sports smorgasbord for Keene State alumni, family, and friends on Saturday, Oct. 25.

“There’ll be something for everybody,” said KSC Athletic Director John Ratliff. “We’re looking forward to seeing our alums return to campus, and we invite them to come out and cheer on the Owls.”

The Keene State women’s volleyball team gets the ball rolling with a noon Little East match against Rhode Island College at Spaulding Gym. The Owls (21-8, 5-0 LEC) recently captured their second straight conference regular season championship.

Later in the afternoon, the Keene State field hockey and men’s soccer teams host LEC games at Owl Athletic Complex. The men’s soccer team (5-8-3, 1-3-1) will face UMass-Boston at 1 p.m., while the Owl field hockey squad (12-4, 8-0 LEC) takes on Fitchburg State at 1:30 p.m.

The KSC men’s soccer team finds itself in a precarious position of needing a victory to stay in contention for the fifth and final spot in the upcoming LEC tournament. Over at the turf field, the Owl field hockey team is one win away from securing its third consecutive LEC regular season crown.

The Keene State men’s and women’s swim/dive teams cap off the day when they welcome Brandeis University to Spaulding Gym Pool for a 5 p.m. opening season meet. The Owl women are the defending LEC and NEISDA champs. A young KSC men’s squad posted a perfect 8-0 dual meet mark and finished a close second at the NEISDA championships last year.
