Keene State Graphic Design Seniors Show Portfolios April 18

KEENE, N.H. 4/02/08 - Nineteen Keene State College seniors majoring in graphic design will open their portfolios for public review on Friday, April 18, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Media Arts Center on the KSC campus.

Members of the local business community are encouraged to attend the event and review the portfolios of these graduating seniors who are prepared for design- related careers such as publishing, advertising, web design, and multimedia artists. Students’ friends, family, and community members are also invited. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. For further information, call the Media Arts Center at 603-358-2770.

In conjunction with the Portfolio Review, the Art Department will sponsor an opening reception for “Emerging Art,” the annual KSC arts students’ exhibition, later the same day Friday, April 18, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Thorne-Sagendorph Art Gallery. This reception will be hosted by Friends of the Thorne and is free and open to the public.

The portfolio review showcases the best design work each student has produced while pursuing a bachelor of arts or a bachelor of fine arts degree at Keene State. Graphic design students are required to take a portfolio seminar in which they prepare a professional presentation of their work. During this class, taught by Robert Kostick, assistant professor of art/graphic design, students complete a wide variety of design-related projects covering print, web, and multimedia featuring brochures, logo designs, websites, animation projects, and editorial design.

The students who will display their graphic design work at the portfolio review are: Jessica Becker of Derry, N.H.; Heather Bowman of Hollis, N.H.; Faith Burgos of Gorham, Maine; Nichole Calvert of Newbury, N.H.; Shiwon Davis of Stamford, Conn.; John Earl of Valatie, N.Y.; Jason Etheridge of Keene, N.H.; Jennifer Fenton of Nashua, N.H.; Dawn-Marie Gehrung of Walpole, N.H.; Renee Halsey of Francestown, N.H.; Heather Lancey of Richmond, N.H.; Shane Lavoie of Richmond, N.H.; Kathleen McLaughlin of Nashua, N.H.; Andrea Mitchell of Bow, N.H.; Marlene O’Connor of Brattleboro, Vt.; Danielle Palumbo of Carmel, N.Y.; Stacy Trudo of Attleboro, Mass.; Michael Valerio of South Sutton, N.H.; and Jacob Wheeler of Amherst, N.H.
