KSC Hosts Annual Academic Excellence Conference

KEENE, N.H., 3/20/08 - Join Keene State College students and their faculty sponsors to learn about some of the most ambitious academic work of the 2007-08 year at the College’s Eighth Annual Academic Excellence Conference on Saturday, March 29.

The conference is designed to increase the visibility of students’ academic work and the collaborative work between students and faculty. It is free and open to the public. In past years, more than 350 students, family members, faculty, staff, community members, area legislatures, and university trustees have attended. The conference begins at 9 a.m. and is held in the Science and Student Centers.

Those attending may pick up programs and join student, faculty, and staff for a continental breakfast in the atrium of the Student Center beginning at 8:15 a.m.

This year, students are presenting 82 oral and poster presentations, exhibits, panel discussions, and workshops with topics, including “Safe and Sustainable Design of a Biodiesel Production and Laboratory Facility in Keene, N.H.,” “Misconceptions and Prejudices Within the Holocaust: The Conflict Between Antisemitism and Anti-Judaism,” “The Rounding of Reps: A Mathematical Analysis of Apportionment in the United House Senate,” “Woody Debris as a Carbon Pool in Pisgah State Park, a Successful Forest in New Hampshire,” “The Colony House Collection of Recorded Sound,” and “Gender and Colonialism: The Role of The Female in William Shakespeare’s The Tempest.”

The Academic Excellence Conference is a shared commitment between Academic and Student Affairs in support of student academic enhancement and success.
