KSC 23rd in Sports Academy Directors' Cup Standings

KEENE, N.H., 3/29/07 - Keene State College is 23rd in the latest Division III U.S. Sports Academy Directors’ Cup rankings following the winter season. It’s the highest ranking ever for Keene State in the 12-year history of the rankings done in association with the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

For the first time ever, both Keene State men’s and women’s basketball teams earned berths to the NCAA Division III tournament in the same season. The Owl men advanced to the Sweet-16, and the KSC women reached the second round. Keene State was one of only eight programs in the country to send both of its basketball teams to the tournament.

Keene State also received points at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship with Kevin Kelleher (sixth, mile) and Sarah Miller (fifth, 800-meters) earning All-America honors in their respective races.

The Owls are in good company in the rankings. Among New England schools, Keene State is fourth behind Williams College (first, 704.5 points), Middlebury College (second, 664.5 points), and Amherst College (fourth, 602.25 points).

Points are rewarded based on each institution’s finish in up to 18 sports - nine women’s and nine men’s.
