KSC Project Santa Fills Large Salvation Army Van With Gifts

KEENE, N.H. 12/21/05 - Mike Maher and Kay MacLean of the Keene State College alumni office stand surrounded by toys collected for children in the Monadnock region.

Project Santa, sponsored by the KSC Alumni Association, has collected well over $2,000 worth of gifts from students, staff, faculty, and alumni. The association set up collection boxes on campus, and guests attending an alumni holiday reception brought toys. Members of the Cheshire County Retired Educators Association also brought toys to their holiday luncheon, and the KSC Parents Association donated $500 worth of toys and books to the project.

The most innovative method of soliciting gifts was conceived by Martha LaFleur, of Keene (KSC Class of ‘67), who asked guests attending her recent birthday party to bring toys for Project Santa rather than presents for her. Volunteers from the Salvation Army filled a large van with the gifts on Monday.
