"Rock against Genocide" Raises Funds for Sudan
KEENE, N.H. 4/26/05 - “Rock Against Genocide” will bring music and more to the Student Center lawn Saturday, April 30 in an effort to promote awareness about the genocide in Sudan and to raise funds to help victims. The event begins at 4 p.m.
Rock against Genocide, organized by student Mike Ricci, will feature his band FF, with music, as Mike describes it, “a mix between original rock music (our tastes come from Phish, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, the Strokes, Muse, Aerosmith, and Bright Eyes) and covers.”
Green wristbands will be on sale to raise funds, and information will be circulated about the Save Darfur Coalition, to which donations will be sent. Stamped envelopes addressed to U.N Security Council will also be on hand. Among speakers will be Paul Vincent, director of the Cohen Center for Holocaust Studies, and an open mic will be available for anyone wishing to speak about the situation in Darfur.
