Larry's Choices: And the Oscar Goes to …

The 77th Academy Awards will be celebrated this Sunday, Feb. 27.

Each year, Larry Benaquist, film professor and chair of the film studies department at Keene State, talks about the actors and films he believes the awards will go to NHPR’s public affairs show “The Exchange. Speaking on “The Exchange” today, Larry outlines who he thinks will win, and who he thinks should win:

Who will win:

Best male actor: Don Cheadle for “Hotel Rwanda”

Best female actor: Annette Bening for “Being Julia”

Best male supporting actor: Thomas Haden Church for “Sideways”

Best female supporting actor: Cate Blanchett for “The Aviator”

Best director: Clint Eastwood for “Million Dollar Baby”

Best picture: “The Aviator”

Who should win:

Best male actor: Don Cheadle for “Hotel Rwanda”

Best female actor: Imelda Staunton for “Vera Drake”

Best male supporting actor: Thomas Haden Church for “Sideways”

Best female supporting actor: Virginia Madsen for “Sideways”

Best director: Mike Leigh for “Vera Drake”
