Mathematics Workshops Set for November

A series of math workshops for local teachers and educational professionals began at Keene State earlier this month. The workshops, which are being held in mathematics education lab (room 181) of the new Science Center, are for K-12 teachers, said Beverly Ferrucci, professor of mathematics. The workshops are free and open to the public.

The two workshops set for November are:

Tuesday, Nov. 9, 4:30-6:30 p.m. “What’s Happening with TI Calculators?” Nancy Schick from Texas Instruments will speak about the new TI-84 Plus calculator family and the software applications available for it. Participants will be able to use the applications and will receive a password to the TI store where they can download most of the applications for free. One participant will win a new TI-84 calculator.

Tuesday, Nov. 30, 4:30-6:30 p.m. “Mathematics…What Matters Most!” Moniqua Sawyer of Harcourt Publishing will present ideas, strategies, and practical suggestions for maximizing effort, time, and success in the elementary mathematics classroom. To register for the workshops, contact Barbara Yardley at 603-358-2023 or at byardley@keene.edu.
