Visiting Guitarist Presents Recital

KEENE, N.H. 3/18/03 - Classical guitarist Berit Strong will perform 20th- century works inspired by nature and indigenous cultures at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 7, in the Alumni Recital Hall of the Redfern Arts Center at Keene State College. The KSC Department of Music will present this concert as a workshop for KSC music students. It is free and open to the public. For further information, call the Department of Music at 603-358-2177.

An award-winning international performer, Strong was described by a Boston Globe music reviewer as “a colorful and commanding interpreter.” The April 7 program will include her interpretation of David Cullens’ On the Way,” Oistein Summerfeld’s Norwegian Landscape, and Larry Cooperman’s Walking on the Water. Strong also will perform a Cuban lullaby by Leo Bruower and Tatarian and Eskimo dances by Piotr Panin.

Strong, who holds a master’s in music from New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, is on the faculty of Indian Hill Music Center in Littleton, Mass., and currently teaches at ArtSpace-Maynard and in her private studio in Action, Mass.
