KSC Graphic Design Seniors Show Portfolios

KEENE, N.H. 11/20/02 - Seniors majoring in graphic design at Keene State College will open their portfolios for public review on Friday, Dec. 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. The Graphic Design Senior Portfolio Review, which showcases the work of 10 students, will take place in the Thorne-Sagendorph Art Gallery, located on Wyman Way on the KSC campus.

Local businesspeople are encouraged to review the portfolios of these graphic design seniors, most of whom are seeking employment upon graduation. The portfolio showcase is free and open to the public. For further information, call the KSC Department of Art at 603-358-2040.

The portfolio review showcases the best design work each student produced while pursuing a bachelor of arts degree at Keene State. Art students specializing in graphic design are required to take a portfolio seminar in which they prepare a professional presentation of their work. During this class, seniors may develop new pieces and refine work completed in other art and graphic design classes.

The portfolio review coincides with two art exhibitions at the Thorne Gallery, both of which continue through Sunday, Dec. 8. The 2002 Biennial Regional Jurors Choice Exhibition features works by artists living within 30 miles of Keene and Friends of the Thorne. Digital Frontiers: Photographys Future at Nash Editions looks at the future of photography in the computerized, digital world of the 21st century.

Free guided gallery tours through both exhibits are offered at 2 p.m. every Sunday by KSC art student intern Charles Langille. Reservations are not required for the tour.

The portfolio review, exhibits, and tours are free and open to the public. For information about the art exhibits, visit the Thorne Galleys web site at www.keene.edu/tsag or call 603-358-2720.
