Presentation on Fundamentalist Education and Homosexuality

KEENE, N.H. 10/31/02 Marc Adams, a Lambda Literary Award finalist and Silver Pen Award recipient for his autobiography The Preachers Son, will speak at Keene State College at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, in the Madison Street Lounge of the Student Center.

In his address, Adams will describe his life growing up gay as the son of a fundamentalist Baptist minister in rural Pennsylvania. He will talk about attending and working at Jerry Falwells Liberty University and about HeartStrong, an organization he co-founded that provides support to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered students at religious educational institutions. A question-and-answer series will follow the presentation, which is free and open to the public.

Adams speaks across the country about gay issues. He is the author of several books, including Light, Still Water, and Dos and Donts of Dealing with the Religious Right.
