Speaker Will Address Diversity in Canada
Dr. Banseng Hoe, curator of East and Southeast Asian civilization at the Museum of Civilization in Hull, Quebec, will make two presentations at Keene State next week.
Dr. Hoe will present his talk and slideshow “Enduring Hardship: Chinese Hand Laundries in Canada” on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Thorne-Sagendorph conference room.
Dr. Hoe’s second presentation marks the resumption of the Multicultural Luncheon Seminar Series. In it, he will address “Canadian Pluralism and Multiculturalism from the Perspectives of Asian Ethnicities” on Thursday, Sept. 19, 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Thorne-Sagendorph conference room.
Dr. Hoe is currently researching and writing about Chinese Canadians from western Canada. His previous research concerned the Orang Asli, the indigenous people of Malaysia.
