Dean Appointed for Arts and Humanities at KSC

KEENE, N.H. 4/24/02 Denvy Bowman, chair of the department of history at Coastal Carolina University, S.C., has been appointed as dean of Arts and Humanities at Keene State College. Dr. Bowmans appointment will begin on July

Dr. Bowman, an associate professor of history, has worked at CCU since 1989. He has a bachelors degree in history with a teaching certificate in secondary education from Roanoke College, a masters degree in ancient history from the University of Virginia, and a doctorate in ancient history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Among many roles at CCU, Dr. Bowman was director of the university honors program and served on several academic and administrative committees, including chairing the university academic affairs committee. Prior to working at CCU, Dr. Bowman was a visiting professor at the University of North Florida.

According to Robert Golden, vice president of academic affairs, Dr. Bowman was highly recommended by the KSC search committee and by his supervisor at CCU. He has established a distinguished career as a teacher, scholar, and administrator at CCU, he said. We are confident that he will be a very effective leader for the Division of Arts and Humanities at Keene State.
