Bringing Down the Old

A crane with T-rex-like jaws peeled off the front of Keene State’s Science Center on Thursday, heralding the start of the demolition phase of the renovation project. “This is so exciting,” said Renate Gebauer, assistant professor of biology, one of a number of onlookers. As the crane did its job, the old lecture halls were revealed. In the new design, the lecture halls will be replaced with smaller, more modern teaching rooms that emphasize hands-on learning of science. The front (south side) of the Science Center will be encased in glass, with a new lobby entrance on the southeast corner.
