KSC Seminar/Webinar Series: Conversion, Race and Racialization in Late Medieval England

Wednesday, · -

Presented by Dr. Meriem Pages, English: In the early part of Middle Ages, texts that discussed religious conversion—and especially baptism—presented it as climactic and life-altering. Later texts, however, question the potency of baptism and suggest that baptism is not enough for converts to assimilate into their new society. Dr. Pages will discuss how this thesis sets the stage for her research and upcoming book related to medieval history, literature, and race.
