Next to Normal
Originally staged on Broadway in 2009, Next to Normal is a pop/rock musical that delves into the raw depiction of mental illness and family disconnection. This courageous and deeply moving piece provides ecstasy as well as agony, light as well as darkness. We see a suburban housewife, Diana, trying to cope daily with a massively traumatic loss and how her bi-polar disorder and mania impact the rest of her family. This musical brings to light the question, “What is normal?” when it comes to family dynamic(s) and how/why we as humans constantly strive to figure out what that even is. Do we even need to define our “normal”? Come take a look inside the home of the Goodman’s and prepare yourself for a beautifully intense and inquisitive ride.
KSC students will need to obtain their complimentary tickets in person at the Box Office rather than ordering online.
